Shell Island is located in North Wales near the popular town of Barmouth just outside Snowdonia National Park. Although it is not actually an island, it is called this due to the fact when the tide comes in it goes over the only road in and out of the area therefore making it in to an island.
Shell Island popular for its camping due to the beautifully scenery and surrounding national park. It is also very popular amongst avid crab fishers and families wishing to experience a fun day out.
If you are staying in Barmouth for a family holiday then it is definitely worth a trip there for the day to see what it has to offer. There is a local shop, showering facilities, souvenir shop, chip shop and pub on site but they tend to be quite pricey.
If you do not wish to camp there you can buy a day pass for approximately £7.50 per car.
